What If?

This week, just for fun, let us consider a “What If?” scenario. What if the right-wing extremist conspiracy-theory nut jobs (RWECTNJs) are right about President Obama’s birth certificate? I know, I know. These are the same tinfoil hat wearers who argue that the moon landing was faked and the government is holding bigfoot’s skeleton next to the bodies of the Roswell aliens. But for the sake of this exercise, just go with me.

In case you tune out the rumblings of the RWECTNJs, there has been a constant stream of rumor, conjecture, and innuendo that perhaps The Great One was actually born in Kenya and is not eligible to serve as the President of the United States of America. According to the RWECTNJs, the document produced by The Wise Enlightened Leader is a not a Birth Certificate, but a “Certificate of Live Birth”, which is about as official as a handwritten note from his mom.

And why won’t he just hand over his birth certificate? I just applied for my passport, and I had to turn mine over. It was a painless process, and I see no reason why a person wouldn’t comply if asked.
What would happen if it did so happen that the Great and Powerful Obama was not legally qualified to be POTUS? What if we found out now, after he’s been in office for six months? I don’t think that the devotees of the His Benevolent Greatness would even care. Would the press report it? Would the courts pursue it?

I’m not saying the RWECTNJs are right. In fact, I’m saying they’re wrong. But what if? The President would be removed from office, and his hand-picked second in command would take over. The punishment for perpetrating the single greatest fraud in the history of the world (no hyperbola here– this would seriously be the biggest fraudulent act ever) would be to get kicked out office and have President Biden grant him a full pardon.

President Biden – there’s a thought that sends shivers up my typing fingers. Maybe we ought not look too closely at Obama’s birth certificate after all.

What would be great is if he did hand over his birth certificate. End the controversy once and for all, but still he does not.
